Government Helps Thai Farmers to Adjust to Online Market Sales

The Online Agricultural Product Marketing Project “Turning farmers into professional online traders” is one of the important projects, starting in March 2020, on which the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has cooperated with Lazada Thailand Co., Ltd., to help increase marketing channels for selling quality agricultural products directly from farmers to consumers.

It is an interesting project that has gained attention from local farmers, including community enterprise groups, agricultural cooperatives, and Young Smart Farmer groups, who are participating in the program, opening a total of 113 online stores.

Currently, most farmers are able to generate sales on the Lazada platform, and they expect sales to increase by 30% within six months, since the spread of COVID-19 has changed consumer behavior toward the use of online shopping more than ever.

The Ministry of Agriculture is now preparing to expand cooperation with Shopee (Thailand) Limited to develop Thai farmers into professional online sellers by increasing sales channels to provide consumers with top-quality products at fair prices.

Farmers who want to increase their distribution channels via online sales can request a consultation or ask for more information at the Department of Agriculture: 0 2579 0121-27.
