MeTAG Wildlife Tourism & Conservation Promotional Event on August 30, 2021

Thank you to the MeTAG Wildlife Tourism & Conservation Expert Group for such great and valuable efforts putting together the webinar promoting the best practices and ethical, conservation-minded wildlife tourism in GMS organized by Destination Mekong
 
It was a productive session having our 2021 Experience Mekong Showcases Finalists Wildlife Alliance, ອຸທິຍານແຫ່ງຊາດນໍ້າແອດ-ພູເລີຍ Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park as well as GTAEF Helping Elephants, our Experience Mekong Collection member joined and presented their inspiring stories.

Destination Mekong arranged the monthly MeTAG Education & Research Group meeting on August 2, 2021

On August 2, there was a productive monthly meeting of the MeTAG Education & Research Group organized by Destination Mekong and facilitated by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office discussing some upcoming projects and synergies between the other Expert Groups to create potentials tourism recovery projects.
 
The group has also recently launched the survey. To all tourism and hospitality business owners and executives, please support the MeTAG Education and Research Expert Group by completing this survey via this link https://bit.ly/MeTag-edu.
 
This project aims to launch a consultation on the industry’s emerging needs regarding human capital and opportunities for enhanced collaboration between businesses and education stakeholders.

Destination Mekong organized the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the MeTAG Expert Group Meeting on July 7, 2021

During the MeTAG Chairs and Vice-Chairs call, it was a productive discussion organized by Destination Mekong and facilitated by Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office to exchange valuable ideas and thoughts on how to best collaborate between expert groups.
 
Thank you for all the passion and contribution to your expertise from Chairs and Vice-Chairs and MeTAG members to make your respective expert groups grow and flourish to support tourism recovery in the region. Destination Mekong organized the initial call of MeTAG Expert Group on SDGs & Climate Change

On July 6, the Mekong Tourism Advisory Group (MeTAG) Expert Group on SDGs & Climate Change was recently well established to address one of the most critical issues that need to be taken on serious action.
 
It was a very productive discussion in the first call organized by Destination Mekong and facilitated by Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office among MeTAG members who brought valuable comments and ideas to work toward Climate Change issues, especially within this region.

Destination Mekong organized the MeTAG Education & Research group call

On July 5, the MeTAG Education & Research group made excellent progress on their call organized by Destination Mekong and facilitated by Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office.
 
The meeting was to discuss the potential upcoming projects and how to actively collaborate between the education sector and the industry, especially on sustainable tourism and the hospitality industry.

Mekong Tourism Collaboration

Tourism in the Mekong Region is steered collaboratively by a public-private framework between the public and private sectors.

The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office, which is the secretariat of the Tourism Working Group, and Destination Mekong, which is the destination marketing organization led by private sector partners, are both managing initiatives aligned to the GMS Tourism Strategy to create a sustainable and inclusive environment to support businesses and communities in the Mekong Region and provide benefits for all stakeholders – residents, travelers, and businesses.

Destination Mekong coordinated the organization of consultative workshop of the Mekong Tourism Recovery Communications Plan

On June 15, Destination Mekong coordinated the organization of the workshop of the Mekong Tourism Recovery Communications Plan, an initiative by the six governments facilitated by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
